Pemuteran, Bali, a nature lovers paradise
Updated: Sep 30, 2021
Located between the high mountains and the Java sea, one hour west of Lovina, Pemuteran has long been a favourite and somewhat secret holiday location for many European eco travelers, escaping the hectic buzz of the south. Pemuteran has the feeling you are taken back to the old Bali of 40 years ago with quiet village life and ancient temples embedded in the mountains. It's close to Java and there are plans for an international airport in the north of the island. It's mountains provide a constantly changing back drop, the dry season reminiscent of rocky, brown Mediterranean landscapes, the rainy season covering the slopes in fluorescent green vegetation plunging down to a pristine bay.

Pemuteran and the surrounding area has an abundance of coral reefs for diving and snorkeling. The area boasts national parks, hot springs, waterfalls, monkeys, bird watching and colourful rural life. Pemuteran has beach front resorts and some of the best warungs in Bali. Pemuteran is home to the largest artificial Biorock reef project in the world and there is a real spirit of marine conservation effort in this area. The bio rock project sits in front of Taman Sari Resort, a gorgeous beach front eco resort. From the beach you can explore the underwater life and you may even come across the one hundred year old turtle, a Chelonia Mydas, who comes to lay her eggs once a year in front of Puri Ganesha.
